Toenail surgery in West Bromwich

Is an ingrown toenail making your life difficult? You might need surgery, McNichol Chiropody are experts and could help you.

An ingrown toenail can occur when the side of the nail cuts or digs into the side of the toe. The problem can normally be solved with routine treatment with or without anaesthetic, however if the condition has been persistent then we can perform a permanent removal on the section of the nail.

Sometimes the ingrowing toenails will become far too painful to be treated conservatively and nail surgery is needed to carefully remove the side of the nail and a chemical is used to ensure it does not re-grow.

Why do ingrown toenails occur?

  • The nail is involuted (curved)
  • Injury
  • Incorrect cutting
  • Nail picking or tearing
  • Incorrect shoes
  • Genetic factors
